A Jobber alternative built for home service
Looking for a Jobber alternative? Puffly is a free CRM with missed-call text back and an AI receptionist for home service.
The short version
Jobber and Puffly start from opposite ends of the same day. Jobber is built around the job: the request, the quote, the visit on the schedule, the invoice and the payment. Puffly is built around the person who calls before any of that exists: the lead, the missed call, the follow-up text and the first conversation.
That makes this less of a head-to-head than most comparison pages admit. Some owners run the work in Jobber and use Puffly for the front door. Others find Jobber already covers enough of the phone and stay. This page helps you tell which one you are, using only what both companies describe in public as of October 21, 2026.
Who should switch
A home-service owner who already knows Jobber and wants a place for the lead and the missed call.
A small crew that wants a free CRM before it takes on quoting, invoicing, and job costing.
Anyone whose jobs start with a phone call that rings out while they are on site.
Why owners switch
Jobber is built to run the work after you win it: requests, quotes, a schedule, invoices, and a client hub. The call that rings while you are under a sink is a different job.
Puffly is a free CRM with a lead inbox, missed-call text back, and an AI receptionist. You do not have to move quoting and invoicing to use it.
Jobber publishes two-way texting and client notifications. That is a conversation you start. Missed-call text back is the text that goes out on its own when the call is not answered.
Where Jobber is still a good fit
Quoting, invoicing, and a client hub where a customer can approve a quote are Jobber’s core. Puffly is not an accounting system.
Jobber’s public plan list includes an AI-powered receptionist, a Reviews add-on, and two-way texting. If those are already on in your account, you may not need a second tool for the phone.
Crews that want job costing and a day schedule for several people get more of that in Jobber than in a CRM.
Feature comparison
A mark means the product publicly offers that capability. A dash means we did not find it described in their public docs as of October 21, 2026. It may exist under another name.
| Feature | Puffly | Jobber |
|---|---|---|
| missed-call text back | ✓ | — |
| AI receptionist | ✓ | ✓ |

What Jobber does well
Jobber’s site describes requests, quotes, invoices, scheduling and routing, GPS for the crew, a client hub where a customer can review a quote, a mobile app, and sync with QuickBooks Online and Xero. If your pain is jobs slipping between the quote and the invoice, that is exactly where Jobber lives, and Puffly does not try to replace it.
Jobber sells in tiers. As of October 21, 2026 the tiers are called Core, Connect, Grow and Plus, and the more advanced features sit higher up. Its site lists two-way texting, job costing and custom automations at the Grow tier and above. Several things are separate add-ons, including the AI receptionist on the lower tiers, a pipeline tool, a marketing suite and reviews. Which feature sits in which tier changes, so read their plans page rather than trusting a summary, including this one.
Where the phone fits
Jobber now lists an AI receptionist that answers calls and texts and takes requests. It is an add-on on the lower tiers and shown as included on the top one. That is a real feature. If you are already a Jobber customer, try it before assuming you need a second tool for the phone.
Puffly starts from the missed call instead. You get a tracking number that rings through to your existing phone. When a call on that number goes unanswered, a text goes out on its own, usually within moments, and the call is logged as a lead. It respects SMS consent and quiet hours, sends once per caller per day, and you edit the wording. Puff Voice, the AI receptionist, answers from the services, hours and questions you give it, takes a message when it does not know, and hands the call to you if the caller asks for a person.
Cost: how to compare it fairly
Jobber publishes its plan costs by number of users and by billing term, and it sells several of the features above as add-ons. Because those figures move and depend on your crew size, we do not copy them here. The fair comparison is to open their plans page, pick the tier that has the features you need, add the add-ons you would actually switch on, and compare that total with Puffly’s plans.
Puffly’s CRM is free to start, with no card. Puff Voice and Puff Text are paid add-ons with their own plans, so the free CRM is not the same thing as a free receptionist. Jobber also offers a free trial and several contract options, monthly or annual, which suits an owner who wants to test the whole system first.
A simple way to decide
Stay with Jobber alone if your calls already reach someone and your problem is the paperwork after the job. Add Puffly if you use Jobber for the work but calls still ring out while you are on site and you want a lead inbox and a text that goes out by itself. Choose Puffly alone if you have not committed to a field-service suite yet and want to start with leads and missed calls, then add quoting and invoicing tools later.
