Missed-call text back that books the job

When a call rings out, the caller is usually already dialing the next company. Missed-call text back sends one message from your business and keeps the call as a lead, so the job is still there when your hands are free. The CRM is free to start.

How missed-call text back works

  1. The call rings your phone firstCallers dial a tracking number that rings through to the phone you already use. Nothing changes while you can answer.
  2. A miss sends one textIf you do not pick up, the caller gets one text that day, in your words, with your business name and a Reply STOP line.
  3. The call becomes a leadThe number and the reply land in your CRM for review. You book the job when you are off the ladder, the roof, or the install.

What the text says

Two messages an owner might write. Puffly adds the business name and the opt-out line.

  • A contractor on a job

Sorry we missed your call. What do you need done, and what is the address? Reply here and we will text the next time we can come out.

  • A tint shop mid-install

Sorry we missed your call. Are you asking about ceramic tint, window film, or PPF? Reply with the vehicle and we will send a time to book.

Missed-call text back by trade

Each of these pages is the same product, written for that trade. Updated October 29, 2026.

Consent, opt-out and quiet hours

The text is a reply to a call the person just made, not a blast to a purchased list. It still has to follow the rules for business texting. Puffly sends at most one text back per caller every 24 hours, ends the message with Reply STOP, and holds texts that fall outside quiet hours.

You need your own Twilio number connected in Settings, Phone, and you finish carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) in that Twilio account. This page is a product description, not legal advice. Confirm the rules for your state and your provider. The glossary defines the term, and the missed-call text back definition stays the dictionary page. This page is how Puffly does it.

Missed-call text back FAQ

What is missed-call text back?

It is one text sent after a call to your business number goes unanswered. The caller hears the ring, you miss it, and a short message from your business asks what they need. The call is saved as a lead.

Does it work for contractors and tint shops?

Yes. The same text back runs for any trade on Puffly. Window tint, auto glass, plumbing, roofing and the other trades with their own pages are linked below. Shops without a separate page use this one.

What does the text say?

You write it. Puffly adds your business name at the start and a Reply STOP line at the end. A useful message names the missed call and asks one question, such as the address or the job.

Is it the same as an AI receptionist?

No. Text back writes after a missed call. An AI receptionist answers the call. Many shops use both. Text back is the safety net when nobody, including the receptionist, picks up.

Can people opt out?

Yes. Every text ends with a Reply STOP line. Puffly also respects SMS consent and quiet hours, and it sends at most one text back per caller each day.
